Aljur, Kris: Best GMA love team

ALJUR Abrenica believes his on-screen partnership with Kris Bernal is the "best love team" in the GMA Network.

The actor expressed this during the grand press launch of their upcoming primetime series "Coffee Prince," the Filipino adaptation of hit Korean novela of the same title.

"When it comes to work, naniniwala ako na kami yung best love team," Aljur said.

He added that he and Kris share a strong chemistry behind the camera that translates either in television or movies.

"(Sa tingin ko) yung chemistry din namin, hindi lang physically bagay kami, lumalabas din yun sa hardwork (na binibigay) namin. Pinaghahandaan namin pareho yung proyekto, kasama na din yung relationship namin as friends," he said.

"Coffee Prince" serves as a reunion project of the two and. It also marks the return of Aljur in the primetime slot.

Aljur said he's thrilled to be working again with his first showbiz partner. He added that he's very comfortable with Kris so there's no big adjustment between them.

"Mas masaya ako ngayon kasi magkakatrabaho kami ulit kasi isa ito sa pinagdasal ko simula nung pinaghiwalay kami. Matagal tayong nawala, excited ako dito at tinuturing ko siya na isa sa mga pinakamahirap na role na ibinigay sa akin ng GMA," he said.

He said he doesn't see any big changes on Kris' working habits, but regarded her as more matured and professional in taking her role.

"Napansin ko na kung gaano ako ka-open sa kanya eh ganun parin siya sa akin. She's very professional and masaya ako na nabigyan ako ng chance na makatrabaho ko ulit siya," he said.

Although he's excited for the series, the actor couldn't hide his edginess in their comeback project. He said he takes it as a challenge to regain the followers they garnered over the years.

"Thankful lang ako sa mga nangyayari. Of course kinabahan ako kasi matagal na nawala, pero more na nagpapasalmat ako kasi may project na bago and kahit na wala tayo sa primetime, marami paring dumating na blessings sa akin," he said.

Aljur will reprise the role of Arthur, a happy-go-lucky and wealthy bachelor whose paternal grandmother pushes him to settle down and start a family.

In order to avoid the constant request from his relatives, he will hire Andy, played by Kris, to pretend as his gay lover without even knowing that the latter is a real woman.

The actor's character will also accept the challenge of his grandmother to turnaround their dying coffee business.

"Coffee Prince" will premier on October 8, after "Luna Blanca." (Sunnex)
