GMA-7 actress Kris Bernal said she's excited to work again with her perennial on-screen partner Aljur Abrenica.
The two will topbill upcoming primetime program "Coffee Prince," a local adaptation of the Korean hit series of same title. It will grace the local television starting October 8.
The new series serves as a reunion project for Kris and Aljur who have been away from each other for years. Kris said he missed sharing taping days with the actor.
"Na-miss ko siya. Pag nagkikita kami, palagi parin akong niyayakap niyan at pag mag-start kami, lagi naming pinagdadasal itong Coffee Prince," she said.
She added that over the years, they both matured as individuals and as a love team. She said they are more serious now with their craft and would often help each other in their current projects.
Kris said Aljur has changed for the better.
"Mas naging mature na siya kasi dati lagi kaming nag-aaway. Hindi kami nagkakaintindihan tapos minsan umiiyak ako pag masama yung loob ko sa kanya," she said.
"Mas okay kami ngayon sa isa't isa. Ngayon mas kumportable na kami. Iba na talaga pag mag-isip kami ngayon. Mas nagtutulungan kami," she added.
In the upcoming evening series, the actress will portray a girl-turned-tomboy barista who will be hired by Aljur to pose as his gay lover.
Kris said she enjoys her role in "Coffee Prince" but, at first, struggled to get rid of her feminine gestures.
"Nakukuha ko na kung paano na gumalaw, paano na magsalita. Pero minsan pag may pahinga eh nagiging babae ulit ako. Na-enjoy ko talaga yung role," she said.
She said she's even willing to cut her hair short for the show but was not allowed to do so because of an endorsement contract.
The actress is hopeful the Filipino audience will embrace the localized version, just like how the public fell in love with the original series.
"Coffee Prince" is under the direction of actor/director Ricky Davao. (Sunnex)
