CEBUANO actor Richard Yap denied that his wife is closely guarding him on the set of the hit morning series "Be Careful with My Heart."

Richard said his wife, Melody, accompanies him on the set because she's the one taking care of his personal stuff.

He added that it was also his way of bonding with his wife as they seldom see each other since he joined showbiz due to his busy schedule.

"Kung hindi ko siya kasama sa set, weekends magkasama talaga kami. Pero pag okay na yung mga kids, andun siya sa set kasi siya din talaga ang nag-aasikaso ng mga gamit ko," he said in a Cinema News interview.

Richard clarified that his wife is not jealous of his successful on-screen team-up with actress Jodi Sta. Maria.

Meanwhile, the actor said he is working hard to give his wife and two children a better life.

"At this age I know my priorities. Siguro kung mas bata ako pumasok dito, mas mabilis akong ma-tempt. Right now my focus is my family and work because I want to provide them a good future," he said.

Jodi, for her part, said that she and Richard's wife are good friends even as she described her as "a very fine woman."

"She's a very fine woman. Very understanding. Parang pamilya na din talaga sa amin. Kung baga, dun sa working relationship, nagkaroon kami ng friendship," she said.

"Be Careful with My Heart" is extended until June of next year. (Sunnex)
