ACTOR Derek Ramsay said he felt like a winner following the successful premiere of his newest primetime fantaserye "Kidlat."
On Sunday evening, Derek and the whole cast attended the special screening with the entertainment press at Broadway Centrum in Quezon City.
A very emotional Derek thanked everyone who made the show possible. His whole family was also present to support him.
"I don't know what to say. Parang nanalo ako sa competition. This is what I feel every time we play (freesbie) abroad and we win and I get to represent the country. Dito parang our cast is my team and we won by putting a lot of time and effort to make a good product," he said.
He said the show put so much effort to provide quality programming. In fact, Derek shared he lost around five to 10 pounds of water because of his superhero costume, which was created by one of those who worked for the Hollywood movie "X-Men".
Derek said the designer stayed in Manila for two weeks just to finish his fitting and the production of the clothes.
"You sacrifice so much time and you put so much effort into doing something. You kind of forget yung bigger picture. It's stressful in the body, doing fight scenes lagi akong nasusugatan, we finish at 7 or 8 in the morning, sometimes you lose track na you're doing this for that," he said.
But the actor reiterated he loves his craft and is contented with his career.
"It's nice that we were able to reach across to these viewers and they are supporting us. Bias aside, I think we really came up with a good product," he said.
"Kidlat," according to Derek is one great way to start his year. Talks are also underway on his next TV project with TV5, which Derek said may require him to be out for one month.
The actor is also slated to do a movie with Cristine Reyes and Claudine Barretto. It would be another "affair" movie, but this time, four people are involved in the story.
Derek previously starred in infidelity-themed movies "No Other Woman" and "A Secret Affair."
"I'm starting it right with this project. There were some rough patches in 2012. But I thought my 2012 was better than my 2011 in the sense that I'm continuously blessed. TV5 trusted me with project after project and my family is in good health," he ended. (Sunnex)
