YOUNG actor Khalil Ramos is hoping for a successful career in show biz now that he is part of the newest batch ABS-CBN's Star Magic.
Khalil and other showbiz newbie were recently launched as members of Star Magic Batch 19. They now join the roster of big stars/talents handled by the Kapamilya station.
The singer-turned-actor described being part of the circle as "fun" and shared he's currently taking workshops to further hone his skills not only in acting, but also in singing and dancing.
"Being part of the circle is really amazing and fun. As of now I'm learning from different people from Star Magic. From directors, friends, co-actors and co-actresses," he said.
Khalil, who started his career in the entertainment industry by joining talent reality competition "Pilipinas Got Talent" and later on joined Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in hit series "Princess and I," said he wishes for more projects on television.
He said he is interested in doing drama projects but also open for comedy and action roles.
"Right after 'Princess and I' nag-focus na ako sa school kasi graduating na ako. Sa work naman, I'm just hoping and nagdadasal ako na mabigyan ng bagong project," he said.
"I don't expect things to happen pero I hope na sana meron kasi pangarap ko yun na magka-show, na magka-movie, magka-album," he added.
The 17-year-old senior high school student added that he's thankful to his mother network because "Princess and I" really launched his career in show business. He's started to be recognized by many after portraying the role of Kiko, the best friend of Kathryn in the series.
According to him, doing the series is both fun and hard work. He's still friends with his co-stars even though the soap ended last month.
"It was hard but it was fun. Magkakaibigan talaga kaming apat, Enrique Gil, Daniel, Kathryn and I. Puro fun lang pero it was hard. Yung mindset ko nun ay I just need to do my best in everything," he said.
Now that he's focusing more on his work, Khalil said he wants to follow the footsteps of Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz and Prince of Independent Movies Coco Martin. He idolizes both actors for their acting abilities.
If given a chance, he wants to be paired up with his longtime showbiz crush Julia Barretto, the daughter of actor/comedian Dennis Padilla and actress Marjorie Barretto, who is also part of Star Magic.
"Kung papapiliin ako, I would choose Julia. I think we can make a nice love team," he said.
Khalil shared that he and Julia exchange text messages but said they are just good friends.
"I just wanted to be honest. Julia is really a nice girl. She's kind and sweet and we're friends. Sa ngayon, wala pa talaga (courting). That's a long process. I admire her for who she is but now, not yet," he said.
The two young starts are part of Star Magic Batch 19 together with Liza Soberano, Janella Salvador, Jerome Ponce, Jane Oineza, Julian Estrada, Alex Diaz, Ingrid Dela Paz, Jon Lucas, Michelle Vito and Kit Thompson. (Sunnex)
