IN SPITE of intrigues, actor Gerald Anderson said he would not want things any other way.
The Kapamilya star had his fair share of controversies, from his break-up with long-time love team Kim Chiu, his rumored short-lived romance with Bea Alonzo, his reported misunderstanding with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, and to his present relationship with Maja Salvador.
"'Worth it' is an understatement sa pinagdaanan (ko). Life is not easy and may mga rocky roads but you (have to) stay focus, work hard lang and it pays off eventually. (Intrigues?) it happens. Hindi laging pasko. Sa buhay natin, sa trabaho natin, hindi laging swabe," he told Sun.Star and other members of the press during "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" launch.
The actor said he sometimes gets tired of answering questions about the past but he understands that it comes with the territory.
"Nakakapagod din and gusto mo sana na yung pinag-uusapan ninyo is about your craft pero artista ako, actor ako and hindi maiiwasan yun," he said.
Gerald said he remains steadfast amid all the circulating rumors. He allotted more time to study acting, picked new knowledge from co-stars, and stayed focus on important things.
He said after the successful release of "On The Job" (OTJ) at the Cannes Film Festival, he's more inspired to do quality films and TV projects.
Gerald also said, "It's a dream come true. I'm very inspired because nakapasok ako sa Cannes. I remember everything na natutunan ko and lahat 'yun ay binuhos ko dito."
When asked what are these new learning he picked from doing OTJ, Gerald said he prefers the audience to catch the film and see for themselves the kind of acting he subjected himself in the movie.
Meanwhile, starting Monday, the actor will be featured in ABS-CBN's newest primetime series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" opposite Cristine Reyes, Rayver Cruz, Diana Zubiri, Ton Ton Gutierrez, Dawn Zulueta, and Dina Bonnevie.
Gerald said the series is very different from his past projects and it's his comeback on the boob tube after doing "Budoy," which ended March of last year.
"I'm very excited. Napakaganda ng show, ng show, ng story and napakagaling ng mga artista. Pinaghirapan ng lahat ang we made sure na quality yung ipapakita namin sa tao," he said.
Gerald not only feels pressured working with caliber actor, but also how the viewers will perceive the series.
"I'm pressured but it's a challenge. Napakaswerte ko talaga kasi 'yung mga ibinigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN ay iba't-iba 'yung character, iba 'yung story, 'yung opportunity para ipakita kung anong natutunan ko. Hindi ako nata-trap sa isang project lang," Gerald shared.
With a successful career and happy love life, Gerald said he's contented with how things work.
"What can I ask for? Magiging selfish na ako kung may hihilingin pa ako kay God," he ended. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
