COMEDIENNNE Eugene Domingo has revealed her admiration for Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, her co-star in the new movie "Momzillas."

During the movie's press launch held recently, Eugene said she has discovered the true Maricel behind the beautiful face and the title.

"Mas hinangaan ko siya ngayon because we cannot deny the fact that she went through ups and downs. Mas lalo akong naging taga-hanga ngayon dahil nakita ko ang tibay ng isang totoong artista na katulad ni Maricel Soriano," she said.

The self-confessed fan of Maricel said she likes how the Diamond Star handled her career and all the issues being thrown at her.

Eugene said she was impressed by her class and elegance.

"Sa bawat pagkakataon na kami nag-uusap, nakatulala lang ako sa kanya and iniisip ko, napakatibay ng babaeng ito. Hindi natutumba. Ang tibay, ang tapang at napaka-class," she added.

"Ang sabi ko nga sa kanya, with all the intrigues or whatever people say about you, you continue to keep your silence and that what makes her really a diamond star," she further said.

Meantime, Eugene said she doesn't mind when people compare her to Maricel and when they call her the "Rough Diamond Star."

"Gusto ko nga yung 'rough diamond star' kasi pipinuhin mo pa. Pipinuhin pa ako kasi kung ikukumpara naman ako sa karanasan ng isang diamond star na 48 years na industriya, walang wala ako," she said.

Eugene said she immediately accepted the offer when she learned that Maricel agreed to do "Momzillas". It serves as a reunion movie for the two comediennes after doing the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival movie "Bahay Kubo".

"Kabisado ko ang rhythm niya and kabisado na din niya ang rhythm ko kaya 'pag nagsama kami napaka ganda ng blending. Tinginan pa lang, galawan ng katawan, alam na naming," Eugene said.

"We always surprise each other. Minsan nahuhuli kami ng action. Para kaming magka-klase sa eskwelahan. We look forward to the new learning every day," she added.

For her part, Maricel said among the new generation of comedians in the entertainment industry, Eugene is one of the most dedicated and passionate she worked with.

"Napaka professional niyang tao at napaka dedicated niya sa trabaho. Alam niya yung ginagawa niya and bilib ako sa kanya. Marami naman talaga na mahuhusay ngayon at marami ang nakitaan ko ng potensiyal, pero marami din ba ang dedicated? at nagmamahal sa trabaho? Si Eugene nakita ko sa kanya lahat yun."

"Momzillas" opens in theaters nationwide on September 18. (Sunnex)
