TAPE Incorporated and GMA-7 will work closely with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to ensure child-friendly scenes involving eight-year-old host Ryzza Mae Dizon.
"TAPE, Inc. and GMA Network acknowledged lapses in the scenes in question and agreed to enter into a three-month period of closer collaboration with the MTRCB," said by MTRCB Chair Toto Villareal in a text message to Sun.Star.
The producer and the network requested the board to give them until Monday, September 9, to submit concrete and time-bound remedial measures on how to handle Dizon's program, for the approval of the MTRCB.
"Of great concern is determining who will deal with Ryzza Mae in her scenes and how, such that her dignity and well-being as a child are not violated," Villareal added.
The meeting held Thursday afternoon was attended by TAPE Inc. president and CEO Antonio Tuviera, senior vice president Malou Choa-Fagar, GMA Network vice president for Program Management Jose Mari Abacan and Legal Counsel Jose Vener Ibarra.
The MTRCB summoned TAPE Inc. and GMA-7 for the airing of "insensitive and unfriendly scenes" on Dizon's "The Ryzza Mae Show" and noon time variety show "Eat Bulaga."
MTRCB cited the July 29 episode of "Eat Bulaga" where "a host spat juice into the face of child actress-host Ryzza Mae Dizon."
It also monitored the August 14 aired episode of "The Ryzza Mae Show" wherein "a guest told the said child actress-host 'landing bata ka' - to which the latter replied pleading that she was just a child, and asking the said guest not to be harsh on her."
"These scenes palpably violate the dignity of the child and have to be addressed by the show's producer, TAPE Inc., as well as GMA Channel 7 over which the said shows air," MTRCB said in a statement.
Also present during the Thursday meeting is Dr. Vanessa Cainghug of the Philippine Psychiatric Association to give inputs as to how to ensure the psychological well-being of the child actress-host. (Sunnex)
