ACTRESS Gretchen Barretto shared she's keeping a positive outlook in life amid controversies surrounding her family and on-going rift with younger sister Claudine Barretto.
In a short interview with Sun.Star and other members of the entertainment media at the 7th Star Magic Ball held in Fairmont Hotel in Makati City, the actress said it's how people see things and as far as she's concern, she's happy with her life.
"Wala naman problema. ‘Yung magiging problema is on how you react on things, how you deal with things. Right now okay naman ang buhay ko. I have a lot of love surrounding me, I have a lot of friends and work,” she said.
Gretchen explained that she fights back on her bashers in image-sharing application Instagram because she can only take so much. If it's her love ones who are directly attacked by these bashers, she wouldn't keep her silence.
"Ganun naman talaga ang buhay, pag mahal mo, didipensahan mo. You can only go so far in defending people. That's all part of life. Kung wala kang bashers, hindi ka na importante sa tao," Gretchen said.
She even let her 18-year-old daughter Dominique answer her own critics on social media.
Gretchen believes Dominique is smart enough to handle her bashers and she trusts her daughter's judgment, "She's an adult and I told her 'Dominique, you're even more intelligent than me. You finished far more than I have ever finished.' We're all adults kaya namin ito. Naging matatag ako dahil sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ko and I am who I am because of that and I'm grateful."
The actress added that life is not perfect but with the love and support of Dominique, long-time partner Tony Boy Cojuanco and close friends, she's contented and happy with what she have and where she is now, "Marami na akong pinagdaanan sa buhay. Marami ng bumatikos at lahat na nang nasabi sa akin. Whatelse can be said against me, wala na. I am free. I'm just grateful for the love I see around me from the people who make me feel it."
In the meantime, the Kapamilya star revealed she's flying to the United Kingdom in a few days to accompany her daughter, who will be attending a fashion school in London.
She's certain Dominique can take care of herself and will not disappoint her parents.
"Magaling naman ang utak ng anak ko and she's always guided by his dad and me. So, I trust her. I will enjoy every minute (of our trip) and I will keep you all updated," she said. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
