Friday, September 13, 2013
GENERAL Santos City native Aldrich Lloyd Talonding became the latest Filipino to grace the hit American program "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Aldrich, together with his cousin James Walter Bucong, was invited by the show's host, Ellen DeGeneres, after he caught Ellen's attention through his video posted on YouTube.
Ellen wanted to meet the two after the video of Aldrich singing Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" became viral on the internet.
The video now garnered more than four million views.
"When the video got viral, people started recognizing us, in the malls, even in restaurants. That's weird," Aldrich said on the program.
The two performed on stage and later on, DeGeneres gave Aldrich a piano, a guitar and $10,000.
Aldrich is the latest Filipino YouTube sensation who graced the hit US program. Before him, Charice, Rhap Salazar and Zeedee Rose Tenerefer were flown by DeGeneres just to guest in her show.
This episode of the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" will be shown locally on Friday at 10 p.m. on 2nd Avenue. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
