RICHARD Yap said the withdrawal of "Be Careful with My Heart: The Movie" in this year's line-up of Metro Manila Film Festival came as a relief to the actors and production staff.
The actor said they don't have enough time to shoot the movie because they are taping four times a week just for the hit television series.
The Kapamilya star said it would require them to work non-stop just to produce a movie. The management is also uncertain if they will finish the movie project on time for the Christmas Day.
"As much as possible gusto sana namin isama yun. But with the way things are going right now, hindi talaga namin kakayanin. For us, okay na din na hindi nakasama kasi mahirap maglabas ng movie that is half-baked," Richard said during the release of his debut self-titled album under Star Records.
"For us it was more of a relief kasi nahihirapan talaga kami at mahirap pag puyat ka palagi. Baka hindi mo na mabigay yung magandang performance na ini-expect ng mga tao," he added.
The actor added the withdrawal of the film has nothing to do with the reported decline of the rating of the TV program.
"I don't think the rating of the show has something to do with it. The main reason talaga is the conflict on the schedule," he said.
The lead actor is thankful for the concern of the viewing public and said they appreciate all the good words and reviews on the show. He said they don't want to disappoint the audience, but their schedule is not convenient for a big screen installment.
"We want to do it. But we want the people watching na sulit din naman yung ibabayad nila sa movie. For us okay na din, maybe we'll just do something later on," he added.
During the press conference, Richard also addressed the constant criticism of many that they're stretching the storyline of "Be Careful With My Heart."
The actor said they're not stretching it, but injecting sub stories in the whole series.
"We can't please everyone. We're doing a show kasi na may sub-stories din, sa mga kids, sa mga older characters. It's actually not stretching the story, we are just doing a lot of different stories all in one teleseryes," he stressed.
"Be Careful With My Heart" has been running for one year and three months. Richard said until now they don't know when it will end.
Meantime, when asked if he's still open in doing a movie project with leading lady Jodi Sta. Maria, the actor said he's ready for anything and his mother network, ABS-CBN, will decide on this matter.
Richard shared that he's open in doing other roles both on television and on the big screen.
"Every actor doesn't want to be typecast na ito lang ang kayang gawin. I want to explore also. We have to choose the right roles. Kung sa tingin ko naman na bagay sa akin, bakit hindi ko tatanggapin?" he ended.
"Be Careful with My Heart" airs weekdays before "It's Showtime."
