AFTER doing numerous movies and music variety shows on television, Megastar Sharon Cuneta is set to try her hands in
'dramedy' (drama and comedy) in her newest primetime series "Madam Chairman."
Written by Jose Javier Reyes and directed by Joel Lamangan, the show follows the life of an all around wife, mother and friend who becomes the leader of a community of diverse and quirky personalities.
Sharon plays the role of Bebeth, a simple and loving wife and mother who is entrusted with the position of barangay chairman. She will later on struggle to balance her family life and the whole of Barangay Sta. Clara.
"I'm so in love with it. Sabi ko nga para siyang 'Crying Ladies' pero naka-turbo," said the megastar during the press launch.
According to Sharon, it is a dream come true to be featured in this kind of project because it is in her nature to always inject fun in everything that she do. "'Yung nature ko kasi talaga ay ganoon, na nakakatawa or masayahin. Never mo akong makikita na malungkot," said Sharon.
"I haven't loved a show this much. I'm a singer and I love all the music variety shows I've done in the past, pero siguro kasi this is the first time na tawa ako nang tawa and nagpapatawa ang may puso," said the actress.
Sharon said the program is really worth the wait. Even though she is taping non-stop from Monday to Friday, and doing "Mega and the Songwriter" every Sunday, she's happy to be working again on television.
She said she is thankful to be given this kind of project and to work with Jay Manalo, Bayani Agbayani, cousin Ciara Sotto, Malou de Guzman, Manny Castaneda, Fanny Serrano, Tony Mabesa, Nanette Inventor, and show biz newbies Shaira Mae Dela Cruz and Akihiro Blanco.
"Madam Chairman" will grace the primetime block starting October 14 at 7 p.m. as part of TV's "Everyday All the Way" programming. (Sunnex)
