Lauren Young: It's not all luxury, glamour for Megan-A A +A

ACTRESS Lauren Young shared it's not always a bed of roses for sister Megan after winning the Miss World 2013 crown.
Sun.Star and other showbiz writers caught up with the "Dormitoryo" lead star at a recent press event. One of the many topics discussed during the sit-down interview was her reigning beauty queen sister.
Lauren confirmed that Megan arrived in Manila on Thursday and will celebrate the Christmas with their whole family.
"Because she's always traveling, we'll have a quiet celebration this year with me, Megan, my mom and my brother," she said.
The 20-year-old Kapuso actress shared she doesn't get to spend much time with her older sister, especially now that Megan is based in London. They text each other a lot and would often call each other through Skype.
When Megan also went home a few weeks back, Lauren shared they all stayed in the former's hotel room for days.
"May sarili akong luggage and may sarili akong key card sa hotel at kapag tulog siya, ako 'yung kumakain ng breakfast buffet niya," she laughingly recalled. Lauren added, "They're (Miss World) very giving to the family. There's so caring."
But she said her sister's schedule and lifestyle after winning the crown is way different from what other people perceived as all glitz and glamour.
"She basically lives from her suitcase. Imbes na kumain, minsan matutulog na lang siya. Lilipad, matutulog and hotel," Lauren said.
The actress added, "Ako, I'm here with our family. Siya, kasama niya taga-Miss World din naman and when they're in London, they have their own family and friends din. So siya na lang mag-isa."
But she's happy that Megan gets to travel a lot, meet other people and is used to being alone because she's matured since winning the crown in September.
"Between the two of us, I'm more independent, I know how to do things on my own. Siya before hindi siya ganoon. She needs people to help her out or dapat may nagbabantay sa kaniya, but she's not a baby, it's just that hindi lang niya kaya," said Lauren.
She said, "Right now she learns how to do things on her own. I'm happy that she knows how to pack her own luggage, she knows how to travel by herself."
When asked if she's keen to follow the footsteps of her sister, Lauren's immediate reply was: "Hindi ka pwedeng mag-Jollibee! Hindi ko din kaya 'yun na lagi kang mag-isa.”
She never really wanted to join and revealed she cared for beauty pageants only until her sister join the competition.
But Lauren said Megan winning the crown also has its effects on her, but maintains that she wanted to be known in the industry for what she's done and what she’s capable to do.
"In fairness meron (effect on me) and hindi ko itinatago because that's the truth naman. I'm Miss World's sister and it helped boost my name, but at the same time I will not call people and say 'Kapatid ako ni Miss World,'" Lauren also said.
"What inspires me of what she did is that she made something of herself on her own and she achieved something on her own. I want something like that -- to have my own achievements. Sana makilala din ako not because I'm her little sister, but because of something that I did," she ended. (Sunnex)
