CANADIAN pop superstar Justine Bieber entertained the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in worst-hit Tacloban City on Tuesday.
Bieber arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday onboard a private plane and flew to Eastern Visayas on the same day as part of the singer's "Give Back Philippines" campaign.
In a series of photos uploaded by Smart Communications on its official Twitter and Instagram accounts (@smartcares), Bieber was spotted boarding a private plane owned by variety host Willie Revillame.
While in Leyte, the singer performed on a makeshift stage in front of an audience, mostly children of typhoon survivors. He also played basketball with local kids and Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes.
Although his latest trip to the Philippines is not included in his "Believe" concert tour, the singer considered his mini show for the people of Tacloban as part of it and "the most important" one.
He tweeted: "@justinbieber: About to go perform the last #believetour show. The real last one and the most important one of the tour. #GiveBackPhilippines"
The 19-year-old singer kicked-off the "Believe" world tour in the United States and then travel to Europe, South America, Canada, Australia and Asia. He mounted more than 160 shows for the tour.
When Yolanda devastated parts of the Visayas in early November, the young singer was among the Hollywood celebrities who volunteered to raise funds for the survivors of the killer typhoon.
He partnered with Prizeo and other private companies like Smart Communications to raise funds for relief efforts. By donating any amount on Prizeo, one will have a chance to hang with the singer and watch him record new songs in 2014.
In an open letter posted at Prizeo website, the singer wrote: "I'll fly you and a friend to join me in LA from whatever you are in the world. It's gonna be awesome."
Justin continued: "Not only that, but at different donation levels you'll receive guaranteed rewards, as well as more chances to win the grand prize. This is something I've never done before, and I'm so excited to hang out with one of my Beliebers."
As of this posting, Bieber already raised more than $600,000. (Sunnex)
