SINGER Christian Bautista is proud of contemporary Rachelle Anne Go after the latter was cast to play the role of Gigi in West End revival of hit international theater musical Miss Saigon.
The Kapuso talent said he's happy that Rachelle will get to experience the international production and will meet a lot of people along the way.
He added that their group "Champions," composed of him, Erik Santos, Mark Bautista and Sarah Geronimo, are all proud of what she achieved and keen to visit Rachelle in London once the play starts.
"I’m very happy na nakuha niya 'yung role, and sad also na aalis siya. Pero as a friend—kami lahat, kaming mga Champions—full support. Kapag nakakuha kami ng schedule, we’re gonna fly there and catch a show," Christian said.
He added, "I'm very, very happy that she's going to be there. She's going to learn so much and when she comes back, wow, I would love to learn (from her. I'm so proud of you (Rachelle)."
For someone who has his fair share of international hits, Christian told Rachelle to have fun and learn from the people she will work with.
As for any advise, he said, "Hindi ko alam e, kasi ngayon mas marami na siyang alam kaysa sa akin. Siya yung naka-meet kay Cameron (Mackintosh, producer of the original West End Miss Saigon production). Kung meron mang hihingi ng advice, ako ang hihingi ng advice sa kainya."
Meanwhile, the singer was asked if he's aware of the news that his "Cinderella" leading lady Karylle is rumored to be getting married this March to boyfriend and Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon.
Christian said he hasn't talked to Karylle about it and it's too personal for him to ask.
"Sa ngayon, hindi pa (kami nagkakausap). Ang weird, ano? Lagi kaming magkasama pero hindi kami nag-uusap about it. I think it’s too personal right now. So when she’s ready, I will be ready to talk," he said.
The balladeer-theater actor added, "Wishes for Karylle? I wish whatever next year brings will be filled with happiness. And we are here to support you."
As for himself, Christian said he's not in a hurry to settle down and start a family," he said. (Sunnex)
