KAPATID actor Derek Ramsay said he's ready to be a father but he has yet to meet the baby's mother.

In a recent interview with the "For Love or Money" lead actor, Derek shared he enjoys spending a lot of time with his nephews. When asked on having children of his own, he immediately welcome the thought.

"Matanda na ako. I'm at that point in my life where I'm thinking where my career is going to go, what's my next chapter," he replied.

But Derek clarified there's no special woman in his life right now.

After his month-long romance with "My Trophy Wife" leading lady Cristine Reyes, the actor said he's not in a romantic relationship with anyone.

Derek said, "Relax muna tayo diyan. Kakagaling lang natin sa ano... I'm a loving guy. It's Christmas and family and myself ang priorities ko."

He once described his relationship with Cristine as "forever," but after the split, Derek reiterated he's still a believer of the said concept and love.

"It's a lot more work when you're both in showbiz. It will happen one day. I had mistakes, I got hurt but I can't give up on that (love). It will happen," he said.

The entertainment press noticed that his showbiz relationships didn't end well and one suggested that he should look for a non-showbiz woman.

Derek surprised everyone when he replied, "Malay ninyo ako na umalis sa showbiz."

According to the actor, the thoughts of leaving the industry and search for his next adventure came after his parents, who are now both on their 70s, decided to build a house in Palawan.

He's keen to follow that simpler lifestyle and leave the hustle and bustle of the city.

"I've entertained the thought of trying something else. Like I said, I've been talking with the family. These are just thoughts. I think all of us go through this," he said.

The actor added, "I'm not saying I'm going to do it now, I just entertained the thought and maybe doing something else. Maybe because I see my dad and how happy he is with the project he's doing in Palawan."

But for someone who is already in his late 30s and still get a lot of offers for television, movies and even commercial endorsements, Derek said he couldn't ask for more.

"I'm a very, very happy man. With all these blessings since I worked with TV5, they've given me so much. When I was with ABS, they're a big part why I'm Derek Ramsay," said Derek.

"It's another successful year. I'm very happy with what's happening with regards to my career. I'm so blessed. I'm welcoming the next year with head up high and a positive attitude. I hope I will have another great year," he ended.

Derek will celebrate the Christmas with his whole family in Tagaytay, followed by a trip to their vacation house in Palawan. (Sunnex)
