FORMER child star Aiza Seguerra, who won Best Supporting Actress in the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night, said her girlfriend Liza Diño inspired her to better her craft.
Seguerra won the title for this year's entry "My Little Bossings" starring Ryzza Mae Dizon, James Yap Jr. and mentor Vic Sotto.
During her acceptance speech on Friday, Aiza thanked everyone for the love and support, especially Diño for giving her direction and teaching her so much about acting.
"I've always been an actress but Liza gave me that direction. Where to take it, how to harness it and make it effective. Never akong nag workshop or anything. So, siya yung critic ko. Fina-fine tune niya ako, and in return, ganun din ako sa sarili ko. It's all her," she said.
When asked if winning the trophy is the highlight of her 2013, Aiza said, "No, meeting Liza again is the highlight of my 2013."
"Sa totoo lang, yung box office hit ng 'My Little Bossings' is a very personal thing for me kasi para sa akin alam ko na it's a stretch kay Bosing na umalis dun sa Enteng Kabisote franchise," she added.
Aiza said she's one of those who really convinced Vic to veer away from doing fantasy this year.
"More than anything gusto namin ipakita sa lahat ng tao na he's really a good actor (Vic). Hindi lang siya pang comedy, but he has a heart talaga and sobrang masaya kami na nakita niya na all it takes is a good story, good actors, good direction and it would still be a good hit."
"My Little Bossings" ranked first on the festival’s opening day and now holds the box office record for the highest opening gross for a Filipino movie.
Aiza is also thankful to Queen of All Media Kris Aquino for believing in her talent. She said the friendship they've all established is beyond what is seen on television.
"Nakita kasi niya yung family namin sa Eat Bulaga. Ako matagal ng wala and hindi na regular sa show, pero iba parin yung turingan namin. Nung nakita niya yun, sobra siyang nabilib."
"Sa mundo ng show business, na akala natin na lahat ay temporary, lahat superficial, may nag-exist na ganun parin, na totoong nagmamahalan at nagsuportahan sa isa't isa. Sa amin, ang panalo ng isa ay panalo ng lahat," Aiza said.
"My Little Bossings" also bagged the third Best Picture and Best Child Performer for Ryzza Mae Dizon on. (Sunnex)
