Korina Sanchez leaves her radio show-A A +A
Tuesday, January 7, 2014
BROADCAST Journalist Korina Sanchez is now on leave from her DZMM radio show "Rated Korina" but will continue her other television shows on ABS-CBN Channel 2.
In a statement, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Department head Bong Osorio said Korina's absence from her radio show is only temporary.
He further said that Sanchez already informed the network's management of her desire to concentrate on her graduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University as early as middle of 2013.
"Korina Sanchez is currently on leave from her morning program on DZMM to concentrate on her postgraduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. This was planned as early as middle of 2013 when Korina informed ABS-CBN management about her intentions to focus on her studies," Osorio said.
But the news anchor will retain her regular television stint in "TV Patrol" and Sunday lifestyle program "Rated K."
News of Korina's resignation started when she was not heard on radio for over two weeks after she questioned an international news correspondent's coverage in the typhoon hit province of Tacloban.
She was quoted as saying "Itong Anderson Cooper, sabi wala daw government presence sa Tacloban. Mukhang hindi niya alam ang sinasabi niya."
Cooper, who is a CNN senior correspondent, responded on Sanchez' critique and urged the Filipino anchor to go to Tacloban.
"I urge her to go there (Tacloban). I'm sure she has the means as she's the wife of the Interior Secretary (Secretary Mar Roxas). Her husband's a politician, I'm sure he can arrange her a flight," Cooper said. (Sunnex)
