CEBUANA actress Kim Chiu lands herself in hot water with the entertainment press during the grand launch of her upcoming movie "Bride for Rent" after they asked her about the true nature of her friendship with Xian Lim, her leading man in the movie.

During the press conference, veteran entertainment columnist Aster Amoyo asked Kim to once and for all answer the question of the press on whether or not she and Lim are already a couple.

Kim, who is wary of the topic since the collapse of her past relationship, replied: "We don't owe you any of our personal lives. You can think whatever you want to think as long as you're happy when you watch us on TV. Nakikita ninyo kung paano kami ma-inlove, yun na yun."

Kim said that there's a right time and place to answer such kind of question. She said she's keen to keep her personal life private.

"Lahat naman tayo merong dapat i-share, may dapat hindi i-share, and it's our choice. I hope you guys would understand it," she added.

When showbiz talk show host Ogie Diaz commented that some members of the press might misinterpret her statement as a bit strong, Kim was seen a bit shaken but kept a brave face.

The Kapamilya star said it's not her intention to offend anybody and she owes the life she leads now to the viewing public.

"Utang ko lahat sa inyo kung nasaan ako. Umpisahan natin sa Pinoy Big Brother, hindi ako mananalo kung hindi sa boto ng mga tao," she said.

She then apologized to the press if her statement came across a bit strong and snobbish. "Sorry po… yung sa term ko, sorry talaga."

Right after the press conference, Kim said she's okay and a much tougher cookie this new year.

"Hindi naman (ako na hurt). Okay lang. Hindi na ako sensitive."

She reiterated that it's not the right time to talk about the matter and promised to speak if there's something worth sharing. "(Aaminin kung meron?) Oo naman."

The Cebuana actress, however, couldn't hide the fact that she's bothered by what had happen during the press conference.

Kim tweeted wee hours of Tuesday:

Support and understanding immediately poured in the Kapamilya actress' side and her tone is more positive when she posted an Instagram photo on Wednesday morning.

Kim wrote: "People will hate you, rate you, shake you and break you. but how strong you stand is what makes you. Good morning! today is another day! God bless everyone!"
