STAR for All Seasons Vilma Santos bagged the top acting trophy at the recently concluded 13th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

Santos won Best Actress for her performance in the 2013 independent film "Ekstra" (The Bit Player).

Written and directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, the said movie is the only Filipino film which was included in the Australasian Film category.

Other participating countries are Australia, Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, China, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

The jury, composed of Bangladeshis Mofidul Hoque and Amitabh Chowdhury, German Henrik Peschel, Korean Kim Ji-Seok and Rasoul Sadrameli from Iran, decided not to give the Best Film award this year but handed the Best Actor trophy to Iranian actor Levon Hafevan of the movie "Parviz."

The 13th DIFF was organized by the Rainbow Film Society of Bangladesh and ran from January 10-18, 2014. This year, the festival screened over 150 films from 50 participating countries. (Sunnex)
