TELEVISION host Vhong Navarro, who is currently recuperating in a hospital, will be taking a break from noontime variety show "It's Showtime" after being attacked in Taguig City last Wednesday.

Navarro's co-hosts in the noontime show urged his fans to pray for the actor's immediate recovery and hope that suspects will be arrested.

"#PrayForVhongNavarro for his speedy recovery and safety," actress Anne Curtis, "It's Showtime" co-host, posted on Twitter late Friday.

"We ask Lord that you play your healing hand upon our brother, Vhong… We pray Lord God for his speedy recovery. He will stand tall and he will be saved," Curtis said in a prayer during the show's opening on Saturday.

It was comedian Vice Ganda who initially posted the hashtag #PrayForVhongNavarro on Twitter, which has later become a top trending topic worldwide on the micro-blogging site.

On Friday, director Chito Rono, Navarro's manager, said the 37-year-old host-comedian was invited by a female friend at a condominium unit at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City where he was allegedly tied up, blindfolded, threatened, and attacked by the group of men, who also allegedly extorted money from him.

Rono declined to give further details of the incident as the police have already launched a criminal investigation into the mauling incident.

Senior Superintendent Arthur Asis, Taguig police chief, said they are checking if the building's surveillance cameras captured the incident.

According to the latest medical bulletin released by his doctor, Navarro had contusion hematoma around his eyes, forehead, chin and some parts of his extremities."

Rono told entertainment website PEP.ph that Navarro will take a break from his shows as he recovers from his wounds.

Aside from his co-hosts, Navarro's fans also took to the Twitter to express their love and support to the host-comedian.
