MODEL Deniece Cornejo reiterated on Sunday that she is the victim in the controversy involving her and host-comedian Vhong Navarro.

In a "StarTalk" interview, the 22-year-old model admitted that she was hurt by the negative comments thrown at her by the public after she cried rape against the "It's Showtime" host.

To recall, the model filed rape charges against the comedian after the January 22 incident at her condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City.

Navarro, for his part, filed criminal complaints against Deniece, businessman Cedric Lee, a certain Bernice Lee and five others who mauled him at the Forbeswood Heights condo in Taguig City.

The television host accused them of serious physical injuries, grave threats, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail and serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense.

Deniece said during the interview that she understands that the sympathy of the public is with the comedian but stressed that she's doing her best to stay strong amid the controversy.

Aside from her friends, the model said she is drawing strength for her family who assured her of their support. She said she doesn’t want to drag her family into the controversy.

May tiwala sila sa akin," she said.

Deniece's father is currently in the United States while her mother is in the country.

Deniece meanwhile urged Navarro to man up for his actions and speak only of the truth.

"Kuya Vhong, may mga anak kang lalake. May mga kapatid kang babae. Sa mga anak mong lalake, anong ituturo mo sa kanila, anong ipapamana mo sa kanila, yung mali?" she said.

"Habang buhay mong dadalhin yan.

She also reminded Navarro that everything is happening now is reality and not just a scene in a movie.

Magpaka-lalake ka," she said. "I will still pray for you." (Sunnex)
