AFTER Deniece Cornejo made headlines for her link with businessman Cedric Lee and the rape complaint she filed against comedian Vhong Navarro, the model's father, Dennis Cornejo, has finally broken his silent on the controversies involving his 22-year-old daughter.

Deniece's parents were criticized in various social media platforms for keeping mum amid the rape allegations lodge by their daughter against the television host.

In a prior interview, the model said it was her decision to keep her parents and family away from the prying eyes of the public and she wants to fight her own battle.

But during the weekend's episode of "StarTalk," Dennis gave a phone interview on the show and reiterated his family's support to Deniece.

"Up to now, hindi ako makapaniwala. I'm in shock. Masyado akong nalungkot sa pangyayari," he said.

Mr. Cornejo, who is currently based in the United States, added that they will not back down from what his daughter is fighting for.

"Hinding-hindi kami tatalikod sa anumang pinaglalaban niya (Deniece) dahil ang laban niya ay laban naming buong pamilya. Kami ay laging nakasuporta sa kanya. Lakasan niya ang loob niya at palagi namin siyang pinagdarasal," he said.

He believed that the truth will just eventually come.

"Lumabas ang katotohanan. Tulad ng sinabi ng anak ko, magpakalalaki siya (Vhong). Sana siya ay maparusahan sa ginawa niyang yan," he added.

Deniece, Vhong and Cedric's camps are expected to face each other on Valentine's Day for the first hearing of the Department of Justice's probe into the mauling incident last January.

Vhong will not attend the February 14 proceedings but his attendance is expected on the following Friday, February 21.

The actor filed several criminal complaints against Cornejo, Lee and six other for the mauling incident in Taguig City last month. Deniece, for her part, filed criminal complaint against Vhong for rape. (Sunnex)
