TELEVISION host Toni Gonzaga is keen to stick to "sex after marriage," as she believes it pays to wait and love is more powerful than lust.
In Wednesday's episode of "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," King and Queen of Talk Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino quizzed the "Starting Over Again" lead actress on how she managed to veer away from temptation in the last six years of her relationship with director/producer Paul Soriano.
Coming from a conservative family, Gonzaga said she is constantly guided and reminded by her parents, especially her mother Pinty, on her limitations.
She said that it is sometimes hard to fight temptation as it is always lurking around but she stressed that her relationship with the film director has a good foundation.
"Sobrang hirap panindigan. Honest lang talaga ako. Mahirap talaga panindigan. Hindi naman ako magsasabi ng napakabanal ko," Toni said.
The host added that they try to avoid temptation by not jumping into that kind of situation.
Gonzaga recalled one instance wherein her mother sent a text message reminding her of control.
"Nakakaloka 'yung mommy ko. Manonood kami (Soriano) ng cine, out of the blue, makakakuha kami ng text na, 'Please stay away from temptation.' So bago ka pa man din magbalak, soplak ka na kay Mommy Pinty!" she said.
When Abunda asked her if she's not worried about their sexual compatibility, Gonzaga said that love will make things work in any relationship.
"I think that love should be greater than your lust for each other. Naniniwala ako that love should be unconditional. Hindi porket mahal mo yung isang tao, dapat ang kundisyon mo, 'Dapat sexually compatible tayo.' I think that love should be the strong foundation of the marriage," she said.
She added that aside from love, trust and commitment between couples will play a big role in the longevity and success of the marriage.
"At the end of it all, love really does conquer all. Iko-conquer lahat ng love yan. If your love is stronger than your lust for each other, there's nothing you can't surpass," she added.
Meanwhile, the host-actress dismissed reports that she is already engaged to Soriano. But she said she is looking forward to spending the future with the director. (Sunnex)
