YOUNG actress Louise delos Reyes promised that he will do her best in her upcoming fantaserye project "Kambal Sirena."

The 20-year-old actress will be taking the lead role in the primetime series and she will be joined by actors Mike Tan and Aljur Abrenica.

Delos Reyes will play the role of Alona and Perlas, twins who are born with unusual features -- one with gills behind her ears and the other with a mermaid's tail.

Due to unfortunate circumstances in their family, the two will led separate lives. Their paths will eventually cross again and will compete for the love of Kevin (Abrenica).

According to delos Reyes, the project is a fulfillment of her long time dream. She said she is ready to take on the challenge after doing "Alakdana," "One True Love," and "Mundo Mo'y Akin."

"Matagal din ako nag-antay. Nagpapasalamat ako na nakita ng network and dumating na yung time na nabigyan ako ng ganitong klaseng project. Confident ako na gagawin ko yung best ko dito. Hinimay himay talaga naming yung bawat eksena at pinagpaguran yung buong proyekto," she said.

Delos Reyes said she had several training in preparation for "Kambal Sirena." Aside from acting workshops with Pen Medina, director Dondon Santos and actress Anna Feleo, she also had swimming lessons and now holds a professional diving license.

Delos Reyes' mermaid-themed "Kambal Sirena" is facing a tough challenge via ABS-CBN's remake of Mars Ravelo's "Dyesebel" starring Anne Curtis.

When asked how she will answer critics constantly comparing the two rival projects, she replied: "(Ang Kambal Sirena) ay isang orihinal na konsepto ng GMA at iba sa iba. Hindi naman maiaalis na kabahan ako pero ginagawa ko lang talaga yung best ko para hindi ako magsisi sa huli na hindi ko ginalingan.

It's also a relief for Delos Reyes that she got the blessing of 2008 "Dyesebel," Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

The two had a short talk and Rivera gave her pointers on how to attack the project and to give variation to her characters.

"Pinagalitan niya ako kasi sabi niya wala daw difference yung dalawang character ko nung sa unang teaser. Sabi ni Ms. Marian na dapat pati yung tawa nila ay iba and binigyan niya din ako ng tips," she said.

"Binigay niya yung lahat sa show kaya wala din siyang regrets, kaya ganun din dapat ang gawin ko. And naisip ko din na nakaya niya noon, dapat kayanin ko din ngayon."

Marian also told her to ignore constant comparisons and focus on her job.

"Wag daw akong panghinaan ng loob kasi matatalo daw ako doon. Naisip ko din na hindi mawawala 'yun. Ikukumpara ka talaga kahit sino pa yan lalo na ito na makakatapat pa namin," the actress said.

"Kambal Sirena" will air weeknights beginning March 10 after "24 Oras." (Sunnex)
