COMEDIENNE Ai Ai delas Alas revealed that she maintains friendship with basketball star James Yap despite the cager's separation from his former wife, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino.

The two are seated beside each other on Thursday at the PEP List 2013 event held at Mango Tree in The Fort, Taguig City. The Comedy Queen hosted the program while Yap received the News Maker of the Year award.

Delas Alas further said that she cares a lot about James' relationship with his six-year-old son because she's also the godparent of Bimby.

But like any other story about camaraderie, their friendship did not start out well. They were enemies.

Nagkapaliwanagan kayo. Mas nakilala ninyo ang isa't isa, I think iyon ang nangyari sa amin kaya naging close kami ni James," delas Alas said.

The friendship grew stronger when Ai Ai married Jed Salang, a former basketball player, and they started to hang out in same crowd. She said Yap was also there when she filed her divorce papers against Salang.

When asked if it was difficult to remain friends with two people who got married and went through bitter separation, delas Alas said she's thankful that she remained friends with everyone, even though she's now rumored to be at odds with Yap's former wife.

In any relationship, sila nga nag-aaway di ba, kami rin nag-aaway. Ganoon talaga ang buhay. Tapos nagbabati. Bati na sila (Kris-James), bati na kami (Ai-Ai-James), bati kaming lahat," she added.

As for Yap, the basketball star assures delas Alas that their friendship is a two-way street. He said he will support the comedienne in all her endeavors and wishes her lasting happiness.

(Sunnex)
