ELMO Magalona shared he is guided by the words of his late father, Master Rapper Francis Magalona (aka Francis M.), as he continues the family legacy and make a name for himself in show business.

In a recent interview with the Kapuso actor, Magalona said that five years after the death of his father, the latter's words of wisdom is still fresh to his children's minds.

He said they are guided by the principles, passion and dedication Francis M. had shown in the entertainment industry.

"He's still with me, especially with prayers. Sabi ko sa kanya na lahat ng ginagawa ko ngayon is still dedicated to you," he said.

"Lahat pasasalamat talaga kasi hindi ko ito magagawa lahat, hindi ko mararating without him. Kahit pa anong achievement ang magawa ko ngayon, hindi siya mangyayari without him," he added.

The "Villa Quintana" lead actor, who turned 20 last April 27, believes Francis M. would be proud of all his eight children because they are all doing what they love most.

Magalona revealed that when his dad was still alive, he would often tell them to choose a career that will make them happy.

"Sabi niya na kung kukuha ka man ng trabaho, might as well yun na yung mahal mong gawin, yung gustong gusto mong gawin kasi siya, yun ang ginawa niya. Hindi siya nagpa-command sa iba," the young actor said.

"Sa sariling sikap and tiyaga, nakuha niya yung pangarap niya and he's an iconic rapper in the Philippines. And it's all because he listened to what he loves doing," he further said.

Magalona said he is following that advice and couldn't be any happier with the life he chose to lead. The actor believes that he is in the right business.

"Iba yung feeling ko when I act. Iba yung satisfaction na nabibigay niya sa akin. Para akong nag graduate (ng college)," he said.

And for someone who is relatively new in the business, the young Kapuso actor is proud that he was able to do numerous shows in the past four years and gets to do lead roles on television.

"(On my birthday) I pray and hope for more success in the future. I want to stay healthy, stay good looking and (wishes) for true happiness," he said.

Meanwhile, Magalona was asked on his relationship with leading lady and rumored girlfriend Janine Gutierrez. He clarified they are not yet a couple and not in a hurry to be one.

"It's in the getting to know you stage parin. We're not there yet (relationship) and we're just seeing each other and we're not looking to be serious yet right now," he said.

What he likes most about Gutierrez? Magalona replied: "She's really thoughtful and sweet. I could really see her passion for acting and she'll always give her best."

Magalona and Gutierrez top bill "Villa Quintana" which airs weekdays on GMA-7's Afternoon Prime block. (Sunnex)
