FILM director-politician Lino Cayetano recently talked about the joys of fatherhood, barely a month after his wife, Fille, gave birth to their first child, Ino Philip.

"I'm very, very happy. Hindi ko mailagay sa isang salita or ma-describe yung feeling, basta I’m happy. Parang everyday ibang klaseng saya yung nararamdaman ko pag nakikita ko (siya)," he said in an interview on Friday.

Cayetano's wife gave birth to their first-born last May 13.

The film director disclosed the story behind the child's name.

"Gusto kasi nung wife ko, ni Fille, Ino. Ako naman gusto ko Phillip. Gusto ko sounds like her name and siya gusto niya sounds like Lino siguro nga dahil mahal na mahal namin yung isa’t isa kaya yun ang rason doon. Pinagsama namin, naging Ino Filip, so pag binaliktad mo Filipino," he said.

Aside from being a proud father, Cayetano is thankful for having a loving and supportive partner in Cainglet.

He said that his wife is behind him in every step of the way, whether in his legislative work in Congress or his directorial job.

"She's very supportive when I work, when I read my script or I work in Congress. Pag nag-nurse siya, andoon din ako and katabi siya na nagbabasa," Cayetano added.

"Talagang napakaswerte ko sa asawa ko. Minsan nga I have to remind her na pagod siya at siya ang dapat na alagaan ko. Napakalaking blessing," he added.

Cayetano the director behind the returning series "Ipaglaban Mo," hosted by veteran lawyer Jose Sison and son Jopet.

He said he is happy to be part of the TV project and it does not interfere in his work as a legislator and responsibilities as a father.

"We'll shoot one or two days siguro sa isang buwan. In one year, may tatlo o apat na buwan na din kaming break. It works and it complements each other, as long as ganitong show at hindi soap opera na weekly at medyo mahirap gawin. At the same time yung ganitong material, nakakatulong sa akin bilang isang congressman."

"Ipaglaban Mo" starts June 7 on ABS-CBN. (Sunnex)
