ACTRESS Bea Alonzo is considered as one of the finest and brightest stars of her generation, but Bea Alonzo shared that her journey to fame was not a walk in the park.

In a recent interview with the actress, the 26-year-old discussed her journey to stardom.

At 13 years old, Alonzo said she started joining beauty contests to augment her family's income.

In one competition in Pasig City, although she did not win the pageant, she met designer Oskar Peralta who introduced her to someone who eventually helped her audition in ABS-CBN.

"Hindi alam ni Mama kasi ayaw niya. Kasi fan siya ng mga artista and sabi niya hindi perfect ang buhay at maraming mauungkat kasi nga broken family kami and hindi ko nakilala yung tatay ko," she said.

The actress continued: "Nung pumunta ako dito sa talent center, nagbakasakali lang ako kasi tapos na yung audition for Star Circle batch 10, nakasabay ko sa elevator si Tita Mariol (Alberto)."

Alberto invited her to directly go to Star Magic head Johnny Manahan's office. The next day she was already taking up acting workshops.

"Siguro destined talaga kasi kung pinayagan agad ako ni Mama, hindi ko siya makakasabay sa elevator. Noon kasi sikat na sikat yung 'Pangako Sa 'Yo' kaya naghahanap sila ng mestisa," she said.

According to Alonzo, now that she has established a name in the business, and was even given the "Movie Queen" tag by her mother network, her dreams are all coming true.

"It's very humbling para sa akin. I always say na maraming movie queen in this generation but para pangalanan ka coming from other people, I feel so blessed and loved. Masayang masaya ako ngayon," she said.

"Nung nag-umpisa ako sa showbiz ang nasa isip ko lang ay kumita ng pera at sana magkaroon ako ng puwang sa industriya. Tanggap lang ako ng tanggap ng trabaho. Ngayon iba na," she added.

She said that she had overcome her shyness as she aged in showbiz. She is also more open now in discussing either her professional or personal life.

What's important, according to her, is to remember where you started and who supported you along the way.

"Nung umpisa nahihiya ako, natatakot na baka i-judge ako at hindi tanggapin. Ngayon andoon na ako sa punto na kilala ko kung sino ako. Kaya kahit anong sabihin ng tao, alam ko kung sino ako at masaya ako kung sino ako ngayon," she said.

Aside from a successful career, she is also in a stable relationship with actor Zanjoe Marudo.

Bea said she couldn't ask for more.

"Marami pa kaming gustong gawin sa buhay namin pero masayang masaya ako kasi lahat ng hiniling ko, lahat ng pinagdasal ko noon, nasa akin na ngayon. I'm on the right track and pinagdasal ko na merong lalaking magmamahal sa akin ng totoo. Totoo naman yun pagmamahal niya sa akin," she said.

The actress will top bill upcoming primetime series "Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon" opposite Paulo Avelino on ABS-CBN. (Sunnex)
