BB GANDANGHARI feels his gender preference has been fully embraced by the Padilla family, especially his siblings Rommel and Robin.

In a recent interview, the eldest member of the Padilla siblings said the family is getting along well now but he is still adjusting.

"Hanggang ngayon naga-adjust parin ako. Kasi sanay sila Omeng (Rommel), sila Robin, pag magkakasama nila Rustom noong araw, siyempre lalakeng usapan lang. Hindi mo naman pwedeng i-girl ito. Ang maganda naman doon, nagkakaroon ng bagong relasyon," he said.

BB added: "It's getting a lot better and I can't complain. Sabi ko nga, merong adjustment kasi may previous. On my end, naiintindihan ko kasi ako mismo, nag-adjust doon. Hindi automatic yung transition. In fact, until now, it's a work in progress."

Born Rustom Padilla, BB compared their family dynamics to a dance. He knows there are still a lot of things that he cannot impose to the family but he said they compromise and understand almost everything.

"It's like a dance. Kinikilala ko sila and kinikilala nila ako. Pag meron kang gustong sabihin, na alam mong hindi pa abot, you try to push it. Pero kung hindi, you back step then after awhile, nakalusot na pala," he said.

According to BB, the support of the family brought so much relief to him. He knows they will back her up and will always lend a helping and supportive hand.

BB is also happy with the relationship he is sharing not only with siblings Robin and Rommel, but also with their partners and children.

"Yung support is very important sa isang sitwasyon na tulad na ito. Napakahirap pagdaanan yung buhay na alam mo na walang naniniwala sa iyo kundi yung sarili mo lang. It can be very tough and that's the family comes in," he said.

But when it comes to love life, BB was quick to say he "very much single" and not looking for anyone.

He said this is one topic her family, especially her siblings, are not yet ready to discuss. The actor even joked that he is still a teenager and not yet allowed to have a boyfriend.

"Ang feeling nila sa akin hindi pwedeng ligawan, hindi pwedeng tingnan. Pero nakakakilig din. Yung acceptance na yun (sa love life), will come in time. Maybe not in the near future, but I'm willing to wait. What I'm experiencing from them is actually unconditional love. Yun (love life) pa ba ang magiging rason para maging conditional?" he said.

In the end, BB said he could not ask for more due to the acceptance of his family is far more important than anything else.

"When I was in the closet, it was the darkest, loneliest, saddest day of my life and I don't wish it to anyone because it's very difficult... Difficult to live in denial and to live in lie," he said.

"The Padilla family now is dealing with a transgender person na nagkataon na parte ng pamilya. Everything is new, even I, in fact, is discovering how it is to be a transgender person. I am proud of them." (Sunnex)
