SINGER-actress Nikki Gil has completely gotten over her past heartbreak with Billy Crawford, saying that she is in a much happier place now and does not see the need to work opposite the "It's Showtime" host.

In an interview with Gil at the press launch of stage musical "The Last Five Years," the Kapamilya talent was asked if she is open to the possibility of working again with Crawford on television.

"I don't think it's necessary," the 26-year-old actress replied. "I'm very transparent and if I'm not comfortable, the performance might suffer. I don't think it is necessary. But I'm very professional (if that will happen)."

Gil said she is exclusively dating a non-showbiz guy whom she met through common friends from church and alma mater, Ateneo de Manila University.

Gil said she is happy that this time, her blossoming romance is away from the prying eyes of the public.

"I guess it's less complicated. I'd rather that there's less opinion about it [relationship] than have everyone have something of it," she said.

"I like the peace and quiet that it brings and I feel like I've given so much of myself to the public. If I can just keep this to myself, that that would be it," she added .

Gil said she is also thankful that her non-showbiz suitor understands her job and the long hours she spends on it.

"I guess that's the thing, I don't have to (explain it to him). I don't feel the need and he just does and it's very comforting," she said.

Also during the interview, the entertainment press had noticed that she looks contented with both her personal and professional life.

Gil shared that even though she went through some rough patches in her personal life last year, she never became bitter over things.

"Surprising, hindi ako nagdaan doon sa 'ayoko na muna magka relationship' because I know these things happen. Hindi lang naman ako ang nag-iisang nasaktan," she said.

She said her break-up with Crawford was not a unique story and there are so many things to celebrate in life.

"It's not different from everybody else and I know a lot who gone through it. Para saan pa? Mag-aaksaya ka ng panahon na maging bitter," she said.

"If you're bitter, you fail to see the good things coming your way or good people who are in your life," the actress added.

Gil will return to drama in upcoming Kapamilya series "Hawak Kamay," starring Zaijian Jaranilla, Xyriel Manabat, Andrea Brillantes, Iza Calzado and Piolo Pascual. (Sunnex)
