ACTOR Piolo Pascual is considering retirement and starting his own family after he finished his two-year contract with ABS-CBN.

"When I signed again for two years, I said to myself, 'kalma ka muna, trabaho ka muna, wag ka muna mag rebelde at 'wag ka muna gumawa ng ibang bagay', the actor said at the Sun Life Financial press conference.

"Yun ang kontrata ko sa asawa ko, which is my work, to make things simpler for me and at least I'm busy," he added.

The actor said it is difficult to live alone, especially when his son Iñigo is studying in the United States, but he is working hard to provide a stable and comfortable future for his family.

Pascual said she does not want to be an absentee husband and father to his future wife and children.

"Gusto ko sana. I want na andoon ako kung kailangan ako ng asawa ko or ng mga anak ko. Gusto ko present ako physically and not just financially," he said.

With his busy schedule, Pascual said he does not have the time to be in a romantic relationship right now.

When one writer commented that he is stopping himself from dating and eventually meeting the right person, Pascual said, "It's a choice".

He said he also made a promise to Inigo that he will not commit to someone until his son turns 18.

"I am depriving myself but it's a choice. Kasi mas mahirap kung pipilitin ko ang isang bagay kung wala naman akong oras. So for now, gagawin ko muna ang trabaho ko. Tapusin ko muna ang kontrata ko. Then later on, I'll have time for it," he said.

"That's why I’m thinking of retirement because I want to be fair to myself, to give myself the chance to become my own person, to be independent na hindi kailangan magtrabaho every day," he added.

The Kapamilya ultimate leading man will be back on boob tube starting July 21 via family drama "Hawak Kamay". (Sunnex)
