JAKE Cuenca said he does not mind being typecast in antagonist roles.
Most recently, the actor received the Male Kontrabida of the Year trophy for his role in ABS-CBN primetime series "Ikaw Lamang" at the Yahoo! Celebrity Awards 2014.
Cuenca said he is happy to win the award.
"I haven't been in a situation in my life where everything is falling into place this way. I just want to work hard and every time they watch me, they go into a journey with me, masaya na ako," he said.
The actor added that he welcomed dark roles both on television and movies as it pushes him to his limits and imposes new challenges.
"I love acting. If they typecast me, either they love me or hate me. I love acting. Basta may makuha akong reaction sa tao, whether it would be love or hate. As long as nakakasakay sila sa journey na gusto kong dalhin sila, masaya na ako doon," he said.
Cuenca reiterated that he is not in the business just to earn money but to fulfill his passion and hunger for acting.
"It's not just about the money. If it's just about the money, I would be doing endorsements and mall shows all the time. It is more than that," he said. "I love what I do. Never kong ipagpapalit ang ginagawa ko for anything else. Acting for me is my greatest love."
After doing "Ikaw Lamang," he will fly to New York City to take acting lessons at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
The acting school produced big Hollywood names such as Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, Chris Evans, Kathy Griffin, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Claire Danes, Uma Thurman, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Buscemi.
Meanwhile, the actor was also asked about his new relationship with Filipino-Australian model girlfriend Chanel Olive Thomas.
He said they are getting along really well but it is too early to talk about marriage. He said he has a good feeling that Thomas is "the one".
"Settling down... maybe soon. I'm not getting any younger and I have an amazing girlfriend. I love my girlfriend, let's see if she's the one. I just want to respect my personal life and let it happen for itself." (Sunnex)
