JUDY Ann Santos said Sharon Cuneta is doing well after the Megastar bared her disappointments and problem with weight gain on social media.

In an interview with Santos at the recent "I Do" press launch, she said that the actress is going through a dark period in her life but she is slowly moving forward.

"She's doing okay. She's coping, she's trying to work things out. Dumaan siya sa state of depression and state of loneliness. Pero all I can say now is ang daming acceptance and realization ni Ate," she said.

"She's doing good, she's doing well. Ang hinihingi niya lang siguro ngayon sa mga tao is understanding and prayers na ma-overcome niya 'yong struggles na pinagdadaanan niya and that's why we’re here for her," she said.

In one of Cuneta's Facebook post, she revealed that it was Santos and husband Ryan Agoncillo who immediately visited her after sharing her personal battles in social media.

The Megastar described Santos as her "sister-by-choice." They did the movie "Magkapatid" in 2002.

"We had a nice, long, emotional talk. They are family. I am blessed to have them in my life. People like them are rare nowadays. Judai lifts me up. Ryan does the same. I cannot believe the love this couple is giving me. I will never forget. Judai and I are a team. Ryan is my brother, also in our team. They will do anything to pick me up. And to remind me of who I am... because honestly, I have forgotten," Sharon wrote.

When asked about their long-standing friendship, Santos shared that even though they are doing different things in show business and beyond, the love, support and understanding between them remained.

She said that she decided to finally visit Cuneta last Monday since they have not seen each other for some time now and she knows that her friend is going through a mid-life crisis.

"Hindi naman nawala ‘yong communication namin ni Ate Sharon. Nagte-text kami once in a while. Pero hindi lang din talaga kami nagkikita. Nag-decide ako na puntahan na talaga siya kasi matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita, para lang makumusta, para lang makapag-usap, makipagkwentuhan," she said.

"Ako, I'm very grateful na hanggang ngayon ay na-preserve ko ang friendship namin kasi it’s something na hindi mo makikita sa ibang tao."

What was her advice to Sharon?

"Ang sabi ko lang sa kanya is, 'Ate, go! Halika na at tumakbo na tayo.' She's on a diet," Santos said.

With the latest report on the death of American actor Robin Williams, who took his own life supposedly due to severe depression, Santos said she is confident that Cuneta will not do anything similar to that.

"Hindi (niya magagawa yun). Siya mismo ang nagsabi na hindi mangyayari 'yun. Depression can come in the ugliest form. 'Yung suicide moment, 'yun ang isang bagay na hinding-hindi niya gagawin kasi knowing ate, she's better than that." (Sunnex)
