KATHRYN Bernardo and Daniel Padilla proved that they are the love team to beat in local show business.
Aside from the successful strings of movies and teleseryes, the two were recently named YES! magazine's Most Beautiful Star of the year.
The two topped the annual list which include showbiz heavyweights such as Piolo Pascual, Anne Curtis, Angelica Panganiban, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Solenn Heussaff, Sarah Geronimo, Toni Gonzaga, Jennylyn Mercado, Iza Calzado, John Lloyd Cruz and Judy Ann Santos.
The 2017 special issue is also a feat for Bernardo as it is her second time to grace the cover. She was featured on the glossy alongside contemporary Julia Montes back in 2013.
Bernardo shared the cover came as surprise to her and Padilla.
"Hindi naman alam na kami pala. Hindi naman kami nage-expect pero sobrang thankful kami sa lahat ng nangyayari sa career namin at nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng sumu-suporta," she said.
Even though they received praises during the magazine launch last July 11 at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, the two remained humble. They said it is all because of their loyal supporters.
"Naniniwala kami ni DJ na bawat artista, meron kang contribution sa industry. Kami, ginagawa namin yung part namin and thankful kami na maraming nakaka-appreciate noon. Hindi din ibig sabihin nun na kami lang," Bernardo said.
Padilla added that they try fulfil what the network and fans expect from them.
He said they've also matured as individuals and professionals.
"Kami lang ni Kathryn, tuwing may binibigay na project sa amin, mapa-pelikula man o teleserye, talagang meron kaming goal at 100 percent ang binibigay namin."
"Punong puno kami ng inspirasyon pag gumagawa at hindi lang para matapos yung show o pelikula. Gusto namin na matapos ng maganda, satisfied kaming dalawa sa ginawa namin, wala kaming pinagsisisihan and pwedeng mai-offer sa fans. Hindi lang siya para kumita. Ito talaga ay para sa kanila."
As for the "Most Beautiful" tag, Bernardo said she also has stressful days but she tries to remain positive.
"Hindi porket artista e laging ang feeling mo eh ang ganda-ganda mo. May mga days din na feeling mo haggard ka na. May phase din ako na sobra yung insecurities ko sa sarili ko. But I've learned over the years that you have to accept your flaws. Hindi ka mag stop na i-improve ang sarili mo."
Padilla, on his part, said it is their responsibility to look good in front of the camera.
He believes what people see now from him and Kathryn is a reflection of what's within.
"When you feel good, you look good," he ended.
