Estrada's camp denies FPJ's daughter running in 2010

LATE action star and 2004 opposition standard bearer Fernando Poe Jr.'s daughter is not running for the Senate in next year's polls, former president Joseph Estrada's camp said Thursday.

Poe-Llamanzares was earlier included in the senatorial line-up of the United Opposition (UNO) in the 2010 elections. UNO is is composed of Estrada's Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay's PDP-Laban.

Salcedo said as of Thursday, UNO has six senatorial candidates namely former Congressman Apolinario "Jun" Lozada, re-electionists senators Jinggoy Estrada, Juan Ponce Enrile and Miriam Defensor Santiago, businessman Joey De Venecia III and Agusan Representative Rodolfo "Ompong" Plaza.

De Venecia is the son of former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. and the one who linked First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo to the botched ZTE-NBN deal scandal in 2007.

Detained Army general Danilo Lim who was included in the original line-up but has opted to join the Liberal Party (LP) as a guest candidate, would also be included in UNO's slate as a guest candidate.

The original slate also included actor and TV host Edu Manzano, Makati Representative Teodoro Locsin Jr., Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and lawyer Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel.

Manzano is now the administration party, Lakas-Kampi vice president bet while Marcos is now with the Nacionalista Party of Senator Manuel Villar.

It was not clear if Pimentel will make another run for Senate in next year's elections. (AH/Sunnex)
