Jota and Joti are held annually worldwide every third Saturday of October. It is an annual gathering in which girl scouts all over the country and other parts of the world have the opportunity to communicate with each other through the ham radio and the internet.
Through this, girl scouts have the chance to exchange girl scouting experiences and ideas with the use of web browsers, e-mail, chat programs, microphones and web cameras.
Over the years, many contacts made during Jota and Joti have resulted in lasting friendships between Girl Scout Troops.
Mike Fossum, an astronaut and a scout master, is planning to participate in this year's Jota and Joti from the International Space Station.
The GSP encourages all its regions/councils to take part in the event.
Participants are expected to be on their assigned stations at 7 a.m. on October 15.
For more information, you may visit the Para website at www.para.org.ph, or call the GSP Program Director Ginnie W. Oribiana at (02) 523-8331 to 42 local 221. (PR)
