Masbad: New Toys for the DJ in You-A A +A
Sunday, September 15, 2013
RECENTLY, three of the well-known companies in the DJ industry released new products to push along the digital DJ. Pioneer and Native Instruments let loose new and updated hardware, respectivelyfor those with the moolah to take advantage of right out the gate.
If you're into this sort of thing, you surely have heard about the Pioneer DDJ-SR and the Traktor S4 and S2 MK2. Pioneer released another piece of hardware to cater to the Serato users and Traktor updated their popular controller duo.
The DDJ-SR is a smaller version of the DDJ-SX. It offers only two channels for control and should be more than enough to the regular DJ who wants that go-lite setup for gigs anywhere around town. It's due for release next month. It will carry a MSRP of USD$699 so start saving up now.
On another note, Native Instruments recently released a widely anticipated update to their popular Kontrol S4 and S2 controllers after their ominous price drop on the previous version of the two controllers. It seems like that's the trend with Native Instruments when they're about to release something new. The S4 MK2 will set you back USD$799 and the S2 MK2 for USD$499.
Unfortunately, I haven't found any extensive reviews on any of the two toys yet. This maybe so because both were just released recently. I’m pretty sure the gearheads are just about to receive their own units and are yet to do an extensive review.
On a personal note, I am quite excited with the new controllers from Native Instruments and I can't wait to get my hands on that Traktor S2 MK2 and take it for a spin around town and see how it fares.
So while waiting for that to come to our side of the planet, here's the aftermovie from one of my favorite EDM festivals in the world -- Tomorrowland.
See you again next week! Until then -- eat, sleep, rave, repeat.
