TWITTERVERSE exploded with praises for the late South African statesman Nelson Mandela, who passed away early Friday at age 95.
Mandela was known for his crusade against apartheid, where he spent nearly 30 years in prison for his convictions.
Twitter users made their sentiments known using the hashtag #RIPNelsonMandela, which topped worldwide Twitter trends as of Friday morning.
In the Philippines, former Senator Edgardo Angara posted a photo of him meeting Mandela.

US Embassy deputy chief Brian Goldbeck lauded Mandela as a man of peace and an icon, leader and advocate of liberty and democracy.
"The world lost a man of peace; South Africa an icon, leader, and an advocate for liberty and democracy," he said.
Singer Marie Osmond mourned the loss of Mandela.
