The event, which attracts more than 15,000 viewers every year, offers the rare opportunity for the local viewers to experience French culture through a panorama of various genres of films.
This year the stories picked for the festival reflects the lives of Filipino's living here and abroad.
Among the films that were shown L'Immortel by Richard Berry, L'Heure d'ete by Olivier Assayas, La Fille du RER by Andre Techine, La Graine et le Mulet by Abdellatif Kechiche, Les Bureaux de Dieu by Claire Simon, Le Premier Venu by Jacques Doillon, Welcome by Philippe Loiret, Dans Le Vie by Philippe Faucon, Le Beau Mariage and Le Genou de Claire both by Eric Rohmer.
Our very own Brillante Mendoza also graced the event and his independent film “Lola”.
Mendoza won the Best Director trophy for the film "Kinatay" at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.
Aside from the one week screening, FFF is also honoring the late filmmaker Eric Rohmer, who passed away January this year, by showing his films at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from June 15 to 20.
Rohmer's classic films featured in CCP are My Night at Maud’s, Claire's Knee, The Good Marriage, Pauline at the Beach, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, Suzanne’s Career, The Girl at the Monceau Bakery, Charlotte and Her Steak, and Nadja in Paris. His documentaries The Making of A Summer's Tale and Eric Rohmer Preuves A L'appui will also be shown in the CCP.
The festival will also be shown at the Ayala Center in Cebu from June 18-20 and a selection of films will grace the big screen of the University of the Philippines Film Institute's Cine Adarna Theater at the UP Diliman campus for all communication students and practitioners on June 22-24.
The FFF is organized by the embassy of France in the Philippines. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
