AFTER getting funds for their recreational activities, officials of the Department of Education National Employees Union (DepEd-NEU) dropped the call for the resignation of education chief.
Lawyer Domingo Alidon, national president of the DepEd-NEU, said they will meet with Education Secretary Armin Luistro on September 7, citing that the union refrained from calling for the secretary's ouster.

Luistro already ordered the release of the funds to defray the cost of the employees’ recreational activities, which include aerobics classes, darts, chess, jogging and ballroom dancing starting this month up to December.
The approval is part of the request of the DepEd Central Employees Union for a year-round recreational activity that will promote the well-being, health and productivity of employees at the DepEd Central Office in Pasig City.
The DepEd Central Employees Union is one of the groups constituting the DepEd-NEU.
“It was a good gesture on the Secretary’s part,” Alidon said of the fund Luistro approved.
Earlier, Alidon spearheaded the calls for Luistro’s resignation, noting his alleged mismanagement and incompetence.
