Bakers converge in Manila for 3-day fair

Baking trends, products and equipment will be the highlights of the three-day Bakery Fair Philippines 2013, an international exhibit on bakery, confectionery and food service which opened Thursday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The event, which will run until Saturday, is a forum where suppliers, small and large scale bakers, and buyers can meet on common ground and share information, ideas and latest products on baking.
Now on its seventh year and participated by 165 exhibitors in more than 400 booths, the fair feature local and international products.
Attendees of the event were able to buy baking ingredients, equipment and attend seminars on bread and cake baking, live demonstrations, and forums on how to run a baking-related business.
There were also numerous exhibits launched in coordination with the U.S. Wheat Associates and support of the local flour millers.

The fair also supports the Department of Tourism (DOT) on its campaign "It's More Fun in the Philippines."
The cakefest competition features innovative cake art representing various local sights, food and culture as inspired by DOT's slogan.
Among big brands available in the event are Bakels Philippines Inc., which will host a seminar on
"Innovation. Health. Indulgence," and Magnolia Foodservice/San Miguel Mills.
Noted pastry chef Penk Ching of Pastry Bin/Pastry Alliance will also have a live demonstration on Friday.
Also in the line up are live demonstrations of Chef Heny Sison, the Taiwanese Baked Product cooking show, Angel’s yeast baking seminar and the Bakers Cup Philippines 2013 breadmaking competition finals.
Other companies in the fair are New Honglee Tinsmith Corporation, Philippine Foodservice equipment & Supploes Corporation, World Class Concepts Corporation, Sinmag Bakery Machine Corporation, Middleby Worldwide, Besterm International, Handyware Philippinese and Cosmic Chemical Corporation. (Sunnex)
