Report: LTFRB chief, other officials quit-A A +A
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
MANILA (Updated 9:13 a.m.) -- Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Nelson Laluces reportedly submitted his resignation to Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel Roxas.
A radio report on Tuesday cited a source in the DOTC saying Laluces, LTFRB Executive Director Dante Atienza and the agency's board members tendered their resignation to give Roxas a free hand to form a new set of officials for the agency.
However, the source did not confirm if Roxas accepted their resignation.
President Benigno Aquino III appointed the former senator as the new transportation and communications secretary in June to replace resigned secretary Ping de Jesus.
De Jesus tendered his resignation to Aquino after holding the position for barely a year.
Three of his deputies also resigned from their respective posts to give Roxas a free hand to choose his own team.
Roxas, an economist, is the defeated running mate of the President during the 2010 national elections. (Sunnex)
