PhilHealth: Minimum employee contribution starts January 2013-A A +A
Sunday, April 8, 2012
THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is reminding employees and employers of the increased amount of contribution taking effect beginning January 1, 2013.
Based on Circular 11-2012, PhilHealth President Dr. Eduardo Banzon noted that employees and employers are still set to equally share the “higher” premium contribution.
“All employers are hereby reminded that monthly premium contributions should be remitted on or before the 10th day of the month following the applicable month at any PhilHealth Offices or through PhilHealth Accredited Collecting Agents and their branches nationwide,” said the PhilHealth circular released last March 20.
The PhilHealth circular noted that for those with monthly salary ranges of P7,000 and below, the monthly premium rate shall be P210 that will be shared equally by the employee and the employer.
Those with salaries of more than P7,000 up to P50,000, their three percent (of the salary) contribution shall be shared equally at 1.5 percent each by the employee and the employer.
Also, P750 will each be contributed to make up for the P1,500 premium rate both by the employee and the employer for those with salaries that are above P50,000.
The new circular was issued in accordance to the setting of the increased premium contribution rates of PhilHealth members that was announced just last year.
The “higher” rate had resulted to an increased minimum annual contribution from the current P1,200 to P2,520.
Previously, the P100 minimum monthly contribution was also equally shared by the employer and the employee in the formal sector. (HDT)
