MANILA (Updated 7:05 p.m.) - Divers recovered the body of Captain Jessup Bahinting on Wednesday from the Piper Seneca plane that crashed off Masbate and killed Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
“Fuselage lifted to and hanging by rope at shallower level where scuba divers cud (could) work on it. One more body recovered,” Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas earlier said on his Twitter account.
Orson Bahinting confirmed on Wednesday in an interview over TV Patrol that the body belongs to his brother.
Captain Bahinting’s body was identified through the clothes and watch he was wearing.
The fuselage of the plane, where the body was found, was lifted around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The ill-fated plane carrying Robredo with the two pilots and his aide de camp on the way to Naga City crashed in the waters off Masbate last August 18.
Robredo’s aide, Police Senior Inspector Jun Abrazado, was the lone survivor of the crash.
Secretary Robredo’s body was recovered early morning on Tuesday, three days after the crash.
Co-pilot Nepalese flight student Kshitiz Chand’s body was not yet recovered as of this posting Wednesday.
Captain Bahinting’s body will be brought back to Cebu on Thursday, his brother said. (Sunnex)
