Child-like humility key to peace, says Cardinal

LUIS Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Sunday appealed to the faithful to emulate the Sto.Niño for his child-like humility.
"Ang batang Hesus ay buong puso nagpakumbababa, nagpasakop sa kanyang mga magulang na kung tutuusin ay baligtad. Dapat si Maria at Jose ang nagpapasakop sa anak ng Diyos pero bilang anak ng Diyos, nagpapakababa at nagpapasakop,” said the Manila archbishop in his homily for the feast day of the Sto.Niño in Tondo Church.
"Kaya kung tayo po ay talagang deboto ng Sto.Niño, kayo ba ay may mababang loob?" asked the prelate.
He said being humble will help avoid conflicts among humans.
"Pawiin dapat ang dilim ng karahasan, ng inggitan, ng ambition, ng apakan ng dangal ng kapwa," Tagle said.
His statement comes on the heels of the conclusion of the bloody hostage crisis in a gas complex in Algeria, wherein an Islamist group abducted workers, including several foreign nationals.
The traditional procession of the Sto.Niño took place around the parish in Manila after the mass with hundreds of people joining it while carrying their own image of the child Jesus.
Other parts of the country like Cebu, Iloilo, and Aklan also conducted their respective celebrations. (HDT/Sunnex)
