THE Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) issued a warning to Filipino nurses against fake hospital job offers in Singapore.

In an advisory, POEA Administrator Hans Cacdac said Filipino medical workers have been offered “jobs” through e-mail addresses, which were flatly denied by its supposed sender, Singapore General Hospital Human Resource Division head Tan Zhiyi.

“Mr. Tan has denied e-mails came from them, adding that their official e-mails use the internet address sgh.com.sg,” said Cacdac.

He said this is because among the e-mails used by the ones offering jobs are singaporegenhosp@zoho.com; singaporegeneralhosp@ojooo.com; and singaporegenhosp@hush.com.

In the said e-mails, the sender assures the worker of non-payment of placement and processing fees, free accommodation and food allowance, although they have to undergo seminars such as visa interview coaching or English language training prior to signing an employment contract.

In the said modus, the POEA said victims are being required to pay P3,800 for visa interview preparation fee through a bank account, to which Tan also denied being owned by the hospital.

“Recipients should not even consider answering such e-mails or entertain supposed job opportunities spread through social media like Facebook and Twitter,” said the labor official.

He also said it is always safer to submit their applications for jobs abroad through the licensed recruitment agencies in the Philippines.

Cacdac also reiterated his call to OFWs to check with the POEA for accredited employers and approved job orders before they pursue their overseas job aspirations. (HDT)
