4 die as boat capsizes off Albay

FOUR people, including a young child, died when a passenger boat capsized off Bacacay town in Albay on Friday, a coast guard official said Saturday.
Commander Armand Balilo, Coast guard spokesman, identified the fatalities as five-year-old Chinchin Risol, Diego Risol, Jeffrey Osorio, and teacher Emerlita Barrameda.
Some 17 people were rescued by responding vessels, he said.
The boat, Mbca John Aspe, was hit by waves causing it to lose balance and capsize. The vessel was on its way to the Bacacay town proper from an island also in same
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Friday off the waters of Mapao village.
Balilo said Coast Guard assets were then dispatched to render assistance. (VR/Sunnex)
