Dole to hold job fairs in 3 flood-hit regions-A A +A

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) is set to conduct job fairs in three regions to help workers who were displaced by the floods spawned by the southwest monsoon and the tropical storm "Maring."
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the Dole regional offices in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) will conduct job fairs this month and in September, which is part of the department's employment facilitation strategies to reach the poor, unemployed, and displaced workers in the local communities.
"Based on the information gathered by our regional offices in the NCR and Regions 3 (Central Luzon) and 4-A (Mimaropa), there are many workers who were severely affected by the floods. The Dole, in cooperation with Public Employment Service Offices the concerned local government units, will conduct job fairs in selected areas to facilitate the employment search of jobseekers," she said in a statement. "We will prioritize workers who were victims of the recent calamity."
The dates and venues for the job fairs in the Metro Manila are as follows: August 31, Mandaluyong City Hall; September 6, Mega Job Fair, Quezon City Hall; September 7, Mandaluyong City Hall; September 12, New Valenzuela City Hall Parking Area, Valenzuela City; September 13, Special Job Fair, Pasay Peso; September 14, Mandaluyong City Hall; and September 27, Special Job Fair, Pasay City Hall.
In Central Luzon, the job fairs will be on September 2, Old Capital Compound, Burgos St. Cabanatuan City; September 4, Covered Court, Tarlac City Plazuela; and September 17, Municipal Auditorium, Guimba, Pampanga.
In the Calabarzon, the job fairs will be on August 28, Barangay Mamatid, Cabuyao, Laguna; August 29, Mendez Basketball Court, Mendez, Cavite; August 30, Bagoong Pook, Sta. Maria, Laguna and Natividad Plaza, San Mateo, Rizal; September 6, Rosario Municipal Hall, Rosario, Batangas and SM City Dasmariñas, Dasmariñas, Cavite; September 19, SM City Lucena, Lucena City; and 25 September, Rizal College of Taal, Taal, Batangas.
"Side by side with our post-calamity efforts to help displaced workers, we will also assist job seekers in finding decent jobs for them. I urge job applicants in these calamity-stricken regions to visit their local Public Employment Service Office (Peso) and register for the job fairs," Baldoz said.
She also advised job seekers to prepare their application documents for the job fairs, such as curriculum vitae or bio-data, police and NBI clearances, birth certificates, employment certificates, diplomas, transcript of records, training certificates, and other relevant documents.
The department is also implementing an emergency employment program under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers or Tupad, which provides short-term and immediate employment for victims of natural calamities. (HDT/Sunnex)
