MALACANANG has no plan to investigate Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala amid the controversies surrounding his agency, a Palace official said Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that President Benigno Aquino III's trust on Alcala remains.
"We don't see any need to investigate Secretary Alcala," he said in a press briefing.
Alcala's office has been dragged into the alleged multi-billion peso pork barrel scam for giving endorsement to bogus non-government organizations allegedly formed by Janet Lim-Napoles, alleged brain in the pork barrel fund mess.
The Agriculture department was also blamed for alleged inaction on supposed rice hoarding resulting to sudden increase on the prices of rice.
Lacierda debunked allegations that Alcala was incompetent.
"Secretary Alcala is one of the secretaries who have gone around the country. I think he has visited all the provinces in the country... he is a hardworking Cabinet secretary and we believe in his capabilities," he stressed.
He also said that the Agriculture department will soon file complaints against rice hoarders. (SDR/Sunnex)
